Expert Quantity Surveyor to assess the main contractor’s estimate for remedial works
Scope
Following the demolition of one building and the refurbishment and extension of another to create student halls of residence, façade consultants conducted an intrusive survey and identified non-compliance with Building Regulations in respect of fire safety defects. The survey was conducted following the Grenfell Tower disaster.
The development comprised self-contained studio apartments, a small common room, laundry area, communal facilities, external terraces, ground floor courtyard and two retail units. The building ranged from 6 to 8 stories high with the top floor being above 18m in height.
Outcome
The Quantum Expert Report was used for adjudication and a formal decision was made through the adjudication process.
